The panel difference is the first thing you notice. SimpliSafe uses a traditional push-button keypad. It works, but it's extremely basic. ADT has a 7-inch touchscreen command panel, and I find it much easier to use. Changing settings, bypassing a sensor, adding new devices, and checking camera feeds all feel almost like using an iPad. The SimpliSafe keypad feels dated next to it.

ADT can also use sensors and equipment from other companies. If you moved into a house that already has a hardwired security system, ADT can take it over, and they can use wireless sensors from companies like Honeywell and 2GIG.
